The little jewel in the rough

1971 Harley Sportster XL 900 (right side shift)
I always hated theses things for ever and now here I am bonded and attracted to the nasty heeping pile of iron called an engine. The fustration bike of many an owner and mechanic. Thinking of tossing most everything except the antiquated drum brakes, frame and engine. Although the frame is far from lending itself to the attractive styling of a nice raked hardtail it does have matching serial numbers and a state inspectable suspension.
Shot to hell!! Sat several years outside with broken bolts and stripped out engine mount holes this engine almost fell out. Not looking forward to whats inside.
